FUNdraising Games to support MHS activities fund

Special to the HT

MEEKER |  White River Roasters/Wendll’s will host its first-ever “FUNdraising Games” to promote healthy activity and raise funds for Meeker High School’s activities fund, including a $1,000 contribution from the organizers.

A free practice and sign-up session is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Bob King Track at Starbuck Stadium. Game day is set for Friday, May 8 at 10 a.m., when official results will be recorded. Meeker High School Activities Director Klark Kindler will serve as field director and emcee.

Participants can compete in 10 challenges: combined push-ups and sit-ups in 2:22; a 50-yard dash and one-mile walk/run; basketball shooting (layup, free throw and three-pointer); throwing events for baseball, softball and football measuring distance and accuracy; standing vertical and broad jumps; and jump rope for most repetitions in one minute.

Rules vary by event, including required form for push-ups and sit-ups, track-based races, and age-based equipment for throwing competitions. Basketball participants must start behind designated lines, and jump events will be measured from a standing position.

A $10 donation includes entry into all 10 games, with proceeds benefiting MHS activities. Adult teams are also welcome for a $20 donation, with teams required to complete five events each. Participants who purchase coffee during the practice session will receive a ticket for a second attempt at any event on game day.

Top finishers in each boys, girls and adult division — K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 — will receive Meeker Chamber Bucks provided by local sponsors. An overall champion will also be recognized.
