RANGELY | White River Village Manager Janet Miller shared a report with Rangely’s Board of Trustees at the last regular meeting. Town flowers are growing, Miller said, with hopes they will be planted along Main Street by the end of April. This goal will depend on the weather that Miller is watching carefully. The raised garden beds at White River Village are in progress. Miller plans to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the public when they are completed. The raised garden beds will allow residents to garden safely. Miller will work along Main Street to prepare the garden beds for the growing season.
Town Manager Lisa Piering noted that the Town’s priority is to clean up leaves from last fall and sweep the streets. Any painting will be held off until the streets are clean.
Piering and Economic Development Director Jeannie Caldwell are working on grant application submissions and searching for others to help fund needed police equipment.
The Headworks project continues to move forward.
Trustees discussed the application for Kum & Go LLC to create a shelf in their existing alcohol section for wine sales. This discussion included input from Janet Miller (who also serves as the liquor license clerk for the town), Kum & Go District Manager Lance Poole and Laura Martinez, legal counsel for Kum & Go, to share updates regarding all the efforts Kum & Go has made to ensure the safety and legality of the location for the wine shelf in question. The application was approved, although not all members of the Board voted in support of it.
Mayor Andy Shaffer clarified his concern asking about any other, better options for the modification. Trustee Kyle Wren questioned the statute restricting alcohol sales near schools, which does not include modification applications. Trustee Tim Webber observed that the legal language prevented wine and soda from sharing shelving on a temporary display however, it is allowed on a permanent display such as the one that exists now.
The board also discussed the kennel license application, which was approved by planning and zoning, for Kristi Toledo at 201 Gasoline Alley, Rangely, Colorado, and approved the liquor license renewal for Loaf n’ Jug/ Mini Mart, Inc.
