RANGELY | 2017, the adventurous vocal octet Roomful of Teeth came to Rangely to give what is now a legendary performance in a thunderstorm, of which Alex Ross wrote in The New Yorker, “In my experience, music has never seemed closer to nature.”
On Aug. 31, Roomful of Teeth return to The TANK to perform an extraordinary new work, literally attuned to the cosmos, Alev Lenz’s The Planets, a suite of pieces sung in the planetary frequencies of Jupiter, Mars, Venus and the other planets of our solar system.
Last spring, Roomful of Teeth won their second Grammy, cementing their place as one of the one of the most daring and accomplished new music groups of our time.
The group premiered The Planets last fall at the at the Barbican in London.
At the TANK, Roomful of Teeth will record as well as perform. The Planets will be released on the TANK’s Round Sound label.
The TANK is offering two kinds of tickets for this event: Inside Seating ($100) in the round in the TANK, close to the performers, an immersive and powerful experience; and outside seating ($25), where you hear every sound made in the TANK through a 5:1 speaker array on the hills around you in the desert. Under the stars! Optional: Bring your own lounge chair! Purchase either kind of ticket through Eventbrite at https://tinyurl.com/ypd24cp9.
