MEEKER | The White River is undergoing historic drought and one its earliest calls on the river. Come join the White River Alliance next Wednesday April 15 at 5:30 to hear from Division 6 Water Engineer Erin Light and Rio Blanco County water commissioner Betty Kracht. The public is invited!
The White River Alliance has a lot of irons in the fire for 2026. We are pursuing an aquatic insect survey and will be hosting a upcoming workshop for the “Amazing World of Aquatic Insects”. We are also working on riparian restoration efforts and plan on hosting an expert on Riparian restoration who can help land owners and managers improve their resources and riparian areas.
The Alliance will also be teaming up on addressing the impact from the Lee and Elk fires, but possibly the biggest issue this year is the historic drought and water levels in the White river. Erin Light Division 6 Water Resource Engineer and Betty Kracht will be joining us to share their insight on this crisis that may be the biggest challenge in our lifetime.
