RBC I The collaborative Rio Blanco County group endeavoring to bring statewide candidates to Rio Blanco County has announced that Gov. John Hickenlooper will visit Meeker on Monday.
Hickenlooper will be at Mountain Valley Bank’s Community Room at 400 Main St., from noon to 1 p.m.
A light lunch will be provided. As per the founding agreements of the collaboration’s effort, no candidates will be endorsed, but will be exposed to the community and vice versa.
It is expected that most of the time with the governor will be spent answering questions from the attendees.
Rio Blanco County residents are encouraged to attend. It is also expected that Hickenlooper, who will be traveling by campaign bus, will tour Meeker’s new hospital, now under construction, on his way out of town for Steamboat Springs.
The collaborative group hosting candidates is composed of the county Democratic and Republican parties, the Meeker and Rangely chambers of commerce, the Rio Blanco Herald Times and the student councils of Meeker and Rangely high schools.
More candidates are expected to visit the county before the Nov. 4 election, according to co-organizer Reed Kelly.
