Meeker Fire and Rescue was paged at 6:18 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9 for a fire on a porch on County Rd. 36. “We arrived to heavy smoke and fire with extension into the house. The fire was knocked down within a few minutes, but the fire had extended into the attic space which took additional time to access and ventilate,” Fire Chief Luke Pelloni said via email Tuesday. There was extensive damage to half of the home, but most of the personal property was salvageable and no injuries were incurred. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Ten members of Meeker Fire and Rescue were on scene for approximately three hours with one engine, two water tenders, one ambulance.
