Rangely Elks Lodge #1907 hosted its local hoop shoot on Dec. 5, 2023, with 22 competitors. Placing in the 8-9-year-old girls’ division were Lillie Potter, first, and Emmilia Arnett, second. In the boys’ 8-9 division the first place winner was Ace Behunin, second Lander Dembowski, third Kenton Manchester, and fourth Camron Rose. In the 10-11 girls’ age group first place was Savanah Skelton, second Kaila Hill, third Ivory Triplett, and fourth Paisley Potter. The 10-11 boys’ division came down to extra shots as Karter Skelton took first place followed by Brennan LeBleu, third place went to Kameron Harvey, Liam Geer fourth and Kaylor Henson came in fifth. The 12-13 girls’ division was the most competitive. First place went to Kinlie Plummer. Determining second place required three rounds of extra shots. Kenzie Hill ended up in second place followed by Teagan Behunin in third and Gentrie Plummer in fourth. In the 12-13 boys’ division, Keyton Elam placed first, Kaiden Rayburn placed second and Terran Allen placed third. All the first place winners will advance to the district shoot in Leadville on Jan. 13, 2024, where all the winners will move on to the state competition.
