RANGELY I It’s time to start gearing up for the annual ice cream social and homemade ice cream contest at the Rangely Outdoor Museum Sunday, Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m., during Septemberfest weekend.
Do you make homemade ice cream? Make your favorite recipe and enter to win a prize. Prizes are first, $125; second, $75, and third, $50. Or just come for the free ice cream and lemonade. Come put your favorite person in Rangely’s first jail. Come taste the contestants’ special recipes of homemade ice cream. There will be entertainment along with demonstrations on arrowhead knapping and Dutch oven cooking.
To enter the homemade ice cream contest you need at least one gallon of ice cream, enough for all to taste. No mixes, prepackaged or artificial flavors. Use fresh ingredients only. Call the museum by Aug. 31 with your name, phone number and flavor. We can arrange drop-off times then. Our hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays noon to 4 p.m. Winners will be announced at the museum during the ice cream social.
For information, call the Rangely Outdoor Museum at 675-2612.
