Introducing The Mend

If you have a keen eye and a habit of driving down Seventh Street, it’s possible you have noticed a new Meeker business. Moreover, it is possible you have heard the buzz around town about The Mend, a day spa located at 349 7th St (Halandras Building). While the spa is new to Meeker, you may be surprised to hear that it’s owner Emily Gerloff is not. Certainly her married name, Gerloff, is no stranger to our small community, but Emily herself grew up off of CR 15, then you would have known her as Emily Turner.

Ahh yes, now you recognize those dimples and that beaming smile. The daughter of Del and April Turner returned to Meeker in 2020 with her husband Benjamin Gerloff and their growing family. Moving back to Meeker seemed like a bit of a gamble to Emily. She wasn’t sure the community could support the business she dreamed to create, a true day spa with the therapeutic touch of alternative healing.  But, after all, wasn’t it her father Del who had inspired her down the road of alternative healing in the first place? This is where he lived and this is where he needed hands-on therapies to reduce the stress living with medical issues caused him.  And when it comes right down to it, living without medical issues is stressful enough. Any community could benefit from a business like Emily’s. We are just the ones lucky enough to get it.

Emily completed her education in massage therapy and esthetics (skin care), another field she has always been drawn to understand more of, in 2013 through the Aveda Institute. She then spent the next eight years working at the top day spas and waxing centers in the Denver area. 2023 will be her 10th year in the business and she is in no way trying to hoard the techniques and specialty services she has been perfecting over those years. In fact, Emily has employed two young professionals: Emma Edinger, a massage therapist who started at The Mend in July, and Avery Watt, an esthetician who joined the team in August. Emily feels that what sets her business apart from others she has worked at is quality control. Meaning Emily herself, spends hours with her employees furthering their training by passing on the techniques she has been honing for years. The goal is that no matter who a client books with, they are assured to receive a quality, uplifting service from a confident professional.

In short, if you are looking to add massage, facials, or waxes to your maintenance routine or just want all of the above because tis the season for a general glow up, Emily Gerloff has assured these services are within Meeker city limits. With night and weekend availability, enhancement options that allow you to get the most of your appointments, and an inviting atmosphere, The Mend is thriving and wants you to do the same.

Book online at https://www.vagaro.com/themend1/services or call (970) 989-3226 to schedule an appointment for waxing, massage, skincare and lash/brow treatments. But wait, there is more. Coming in March The Mend will have another service few Colorado communities can boast of, a float tank.  But that deserves its own article.
