MEEKER | The Meeker Classic is accepting entries for the annual Jammin’ Lamb Fest held downtown on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The Jammin’ Lamb Fest has become a favorite for locals and visitors to the Meeker Classic. A culinary competition featuring chefs from around the area — chefs gather on Saturday afternoon at the Meeker Courthouse Square to prepare their recipes of Colorado lamb and to compete. You can enter as an individual, a group or a business — or as a Sponsored Entry.
Judged by a panel of three judges, cash prizes are awarded to the top three places and the People’s Choice winner will receive a Camp Chef cooking unit. Free lamb is provided to each contestant and supply costs are reimbursed up to $160.
Recipes are served to the public in tasting portions after the official judging. The Meeker Classic has staff on hand to help you serve if need be. Sides and desserts will be served along with the lamb.
It is fun, a great way for caterers and chefs to promote their business and just a good opportunity to share your culinary talents with the community. You can bring your own sponsor if you want. Saturday night always brings a huge crowd of lamb enthusiasts and some lamb-curious visitors downtown to Celebrate Colorado Lamb. Caitlyn Taussig, cowboy musician and poet, along with our pipe and drum band, will provide the music. The Eastern Rio Blanco Parks and Recreation District hosts a cornhole tournament. Sit in the shade, sip a brew, listen to the music and join in the fun.
