RANGELY | The Rangely Middle School track team competed in the Meeker Night Relays and the Steamboat Springs District Meet last week. The 4×100 relay team of Aspen Steele, Sadie Jackson, Halle Harris and Zoie Britt represented the Panthers well in both meets. The 4×200 relay team of Steele, Jackson, Harris and Chloe Noel had a strong showing as well. The discus relay team also had a strong showing as the team consisting of Chloe Noel, Alivia Green and Zoie Britt all achieved personal best throws. The highlight of the Meeker Night Relays for the lady Panthers was a first place finish in a time of 2:10.35 in the sprint medley relay. The relay was performed by Addison Scott (100), Miah Wren (100), Ashlynn Ducey (200) and Kaelyn Geer (400). Another strong effort was displayed at Steamboat by all members of the team led by Ashlynn Ducey’s long jump of 15-feet, 10-inches for a first place finish.
The boys team competed at a high level in both meets as well. The discus relay team of Chase Cochrane, Tristan Scott, Johnathan Lance and Logan Benson finished second. Tristan Scott achieved a personal best throw in the event. The distance medley team of Logan Peterson (400), Clay Allred (800), James Talbot (800) and Gage Nielsen (400) finished first in a time of 8:09.59. At the Steamboat meet, Clay Allred and James Talbot finished first and second in the 400 with a photo finish giving the edge to Allred in a time of 1:02.03 for the win and personal best.
