If you’re planning to travel soon, don’t delay making those reservations. Yesterday, I spent a very frustrating morning trying to make camping reservations for my husband’s birthday coming up in late April. I won’t reveal his age, but this is one of the special years to celebrate.
To avoid the cold, I was searching for areas west and south of Vernal, Utah, where I hope it will be warm enough. The current plan is to head to Goblin Valley, southwest of Green River, Utah, that we saw from afar last year but didn’t visit. Amazing rock formations are the highlight of this area and only a short drive from Meeker.
We enjoy exploring new areas every year along with returns to our old favorites. This destination is close, warm, and an opportunity to learn about a new place on our earth. Since the “hoodoos” are preserved as a state park, I presume they are worth seeing.
Utah offers many amazing “red rock” features. We still love Arches National Park, but it is packed year-round. Same with Canyonlands and Bryce Canyons, not to mention Zion. But this year, we will stick to seeing some less popular places and hopefully find some peace and quiet in the middle of nowhere.
As always, I can’t wait to get on the road, get our travel trailer ramped up for camping, and enjoy a new spot. I hope you’re making your travel plans too.
P.S. The Herald Times needs our help, so I encourage you to pen your own articles and help keep our local newspaper going. Everyone can write a missive about your adventures, interests, or experiences. Sharing makes our community stronger. Please get those pens going.
