RANGELY | The lady Panthers hosted the Little Snake River Rattlers last Thursday, Jan. 19. The Panthers came out slow and just couldn’t get any momentum going in the right direction until the fourth quarter and ran out of time, losing by one point, 37-36.
Sophomore Miah Wren led scoring with 14 followed by juniors Annika Cantrell with 10 and Ryann Mergelman with five. Junior Ashlynn Ducey earned four, sophomore Emmeree Wagner had two, and junior Kastyn Dembowski added one. Saturday Rangely hosted the North Park Wildcats.
“I think that was some of the best basketball I have seen the lady Panthers play in a while,” said head coach Jimmie Mergelman. “They came out strong and ready to go.”
At the end of the first half the Panthers were up 40-4 and they finished strong with the final 58-29. Wren led in scoring with 15, followed by Cantrell with 12, Mergelman with 10, Ducey with nine, sophomore Kaitlyn Cox with six, Dembowski with three, sophomore Miley Chism with two, and sophomore Jade Miller with one.
The lady Panthers remain 3-0 in league play with big matchups this week, hosting Hayden on Friday and traveling to West Grand on Saturday.
