RANGELY | The lady Panthers traveled to Oak Creek Sept. 30 to take on the Soroco Rams. The JV team started off the night beating Soroco 25-13, 26-24. Good serving was led by Kassidee Brown, while Aspen Rhea and Linsley Morrill had some good blocks. All around good team play. The varsity team started off a little slow taking the first set 27-25. The Panthers dropped the second set 23-25 but came back and took the third set 25-17, and the fourth set 25-14. The lady Panthers passed very well, letting Antoinette Dorris set to all hitters. Coach Cox commented,”These ladies are working hard and I am proud of them!” Saturday, Oct. 1 the lady Panthers played at home against Hotchkiss. The white team started the day off by winning in three sets, 23-25, 25-23 and 15-9. Cia Buxton, Katelyn Willis and Marlena Miller had some great net play. “These ladies are improving each week and it is starting to show in their play” said coach Cushman. The JV team took to the floor next and showed Hotchkiss they were ready to play, winning in two sets 25-14 and 25-15. Great serving was led by Kassidee Brown and good net play by Klaire Denny, Aspen Rhea, Mackenzie Cochrane and Kassidi Brannan. Varsity was up next and they were ready. They took down Hotchkiss in three sets, 25-12, 25-14 and 25-19. Katelyn Brown lead the team in earned points from the serving line. Great net play by Katye Allred, Lindzey Thacker and Sarah Connor, having 11, six and five kills respectively. Passing by the lady Panthers was great. “When we can pass like we did against Hotchkiss, we can run our offense,” said coach Cox. The Panthers have a busy week with Homecoming. They take on the Hayden Tigers Friday with games starting at 3 p.m. and host Cedaredge Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
