RANGELY I The lady Panthers had a big weekend with three games and two of them being league matches. The girls opened up with Caprock on Thursday and got out to a great start outscoring the Eagles 28-8 at halftime.
Miah Wren started off hot and did not let down over the course of three days. She led in scoring putting up 14, followed by Ashlynn Ducey with nine, Mergelman and Scoggins with six each, followed by Cantrell and Halcomb with four and Dembowski with two. Mergelman led in rebounds with nine followed by Scoggins with six. Wren, Scoggins and Halcomb all had five steals, “doing a great job,” according to head coach Jimmie Mergelman.
On Friday the Panthers hosted Little Snake River from Wyoming. The Panthers played well, but fell a bit short having to foul in the fourth quarter. “I was pleased with the way we played,” Mergelman said. Again, Wren led in scoring with 15, followed by Scoggins with seven, Cantrell and Mergelman with four each, Ducey and Halcomb with two, and Dembowski with one. Wren also led in rebounding pulling down 10, followed by Mergelman with eight.
On Saturday the Panthers traveled to North Park for an exciting game. The Panthers came out hot and led in the first quarter 18-12 and did not slow down. “Scoggins and Wren were on fire,” Mergelman commented. Scoggins led in scoring with 22, followed closely by Wren with 21. Ducey added seven, Halcomb six, Cantrell and Dembowski with two, and Mergelman with one. The last week of the regular season is upon us with the Panthers hosting West Grand on Friday starting at 5:30 p.m.
