The lady Panthers showcased their skills at the Manila Holiday Tournament, playing two games over the weekend. They faced off against Manila on Friday and American Heritage on Saturday.
In the game against Manila, the Panthers started strong, leading 12-4 in the first quarter. Despite a challenging second quarter, they came back after halftime to secure a 49-41 victory. Miah Wren was the top scorer with 23 points, supported by Emmeree Wagner with nine, Addison Scott with five, Ashlynn Ducey and Kastyn Dembowski with four each, and Annika Cantrell and Tylee Fielder each adding two points.
The Panthers continued their winning streak with a 46-36 victory against American Heritage to earn the Girls Varsity Champions of the Classic. The team’s third-quarter performance was pivotal, outscoring their opponents 17-7. Wren led the scoring with 16 points, followed by Cantrell with 12, Wagner and Scott with five each, Dembowski with four, Ducey with three and Chism with one.
The JV team lost to the Manila Mustangs with Tylee Fielder scoring 17 points, Addison Scott 12, Aubrey Kenney 11 and Aubrianna Tapia two. Rachel Elder, Afton Robertson, and Kourney Lujan also made significant contributions.
The Panthers will host the Western Slope Winter Classic, playing Nucla and North Park at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. respectively on Friday, Dec. 8.
