Dear Editor:
The Democrats control the Colorado Governor’s Office, the House, and the Senate after this last election. As a result, SB 19-042 was passed and then signed into law on March 15, 2019. This law, in direct opposition to what our founders wanted to avoid—by making us a representative republic rather than a direct democracy—disenfranchises voters in less populated areas. The “Red Flag” Law, HB19-1177, which, according to several analyses, violates the second, fifth and sixth amendments to our country’s Constitution, passed on March 4, 2019, in the House and will now go to the Senate. In direct opposition to the will of the people, when Colorado voters refused to pass Proposition 112, SB 19-181 was passed by the Senate on March 13, 2019, and is headed to the House. I am convinced that more bills attacking our freedoms and rights are on their way!
What can we do to protect and preserve our freedom? First of all, make sure your voter registration is up to date on the Rio Blanco Clerk and Recorder’s website. Then, please connect yourself to our Facebook page, Rio Blanco County Republicans, for information. The Rio Blanco County Republican Central Committee Officers are also working on more ways to keep you informed. I also urge you to become involved with our Republican county organization.
