Dear Editor:
The Rural School Project team would like to thank all the people who braved the wet, windy weather to attend the Coal Creek School 125th celebration on Sept. 23. Good food, wonderful music and many shared memories were exchanged during the day. On that first full day of autumn even flocks of geese and sandhill cranes gave noisy salutes to the celebration as they prepared to fly south for winter. MM-Eight Construction served a wonderful barbecue that was topped off with a tableful of many delicious desserts brought by people attending the event. We want to thank the many volunteers who helped before, during and after the event to make it a huge success. Without the help and support of the community over the last three years we would never have been able to restore Coal Creek School to its original appearance. We hope to see you at an event in 2018 that we are planning to have once the belfry and school property are completed. Meeker should be proud of preserving this historical building.
