Dear Editor:
Pioneers Healthcare Foundation would like to thank White River Electric Association, Basin Electric Cooperative and Mountain Valley Bank for the kind grant awarded to Pioneers Healthcare Foundation Cancer Screening Fund during the Fall Festival on Sept. 28, 2019.
We appreciate the support and the difference you are making for many local community members. Pioneers Healthcare Foundation could not offer many of its services without community support.
These screenings are a critical step in prevention and early detection. The Cancer Screening Fund is a tool to remove barriers so people can receive adequate healthcare. The Cancer Screening Fund will cover the cost of a Mammogram for low-income and uninsured residents of Eastern Rio Blanco County. Early detection is the best tool against cancer. In 2019, we have seen a slight increase in usage of the program, and know this is a much needed service.
1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
11% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are younger than 45-years old
96% of women who find and treat breast cancer will be cancer free in 5 years.
Pioneers Healthcare Foundation was formed and awarded its 501c3 status in 2011. We accomplish our mission by raising and directing donations, sponsorships and grants to fund community services such as Meals on Wheels, direct patient care programs and equipment.
PHF works closely with community members and businesses for local support in the way of donations and sponsorships. We then utilize that support as local match for grant funding from regional, state or federal agencies.
Again, thank you for your support and kindness.
Margie Joy
