Former Rangely mayor remembers Nickson

Dear Editor:

I read with sadness the obituary announcement of the passing of Shirley Kay Nickson. I recall with fondness an incident involving Kay in her capacity as the Animal Control Officer in Rangely. My elderly 13-year-old collie was experiencing seizures, crying out in terrible pain. Not knowing what else to do, I called Kay. She came to the house, determined there was no hope for Cinnamon, and gave her a shot. Cinnamon quieted and died peacefully, laying on the couch next to me, with her head in my lap. I will forever be indebted to Kay for her service that sad day. She was one of the good ones from my years in Rangely.

Very truly yours,

Donald Peach
