Response to Sen. Roberts’ column
Dear Editor:
This letter is in response to Sen. Dylan Roberts’ column [published May 29, 2025], which listed his accomplishments in this year’s Legislative session. He has completely omitted how proud he is for being a part of the Democrat juggernaut, which was able to ram through the most blatant set of Anti- 2nd Amendment laws Colorado has ever seen. These laws were passed and signed by the Governor with complete and absolute disregard for the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Supreme Court decisions, your own Oath of Office and all the hundreds of hours of testimony from our Law Enforcement, as well as the majority of gun owners testifying against these laws while in committee.
No matter how cleverly you think you have worded these illegal laws in order to skirt the 2nd Amendment, you have failed. The intent is obviously to deprive law abiding gun owners of our rights, and those who will want to be able to defend themselves against evil. How could you be naïve enough to convince yourself that you are not denying a citizen’s 2nd Amendment Rights? When your laws deny a person the ability to purchase a firearm by making the price and requirements completely out of the ability to pay, you have effectively denied that Right. But you already know that, don’t you? Also, the laws designed to put those legal businesses dealing in firearms out of business; they are already working in Meeker!
I ask you, what makes Democrats hate and fear legal gun owners? Both you and Megan Lukens campaigned as moderates on the 2nd Amendment, but in the last two Legislative sessions you have passed every anti-2nd Amendment gun law presented to you!
What you have done to the citizens of Colorado far surpasses anything good you may ever do. Please explain how proud you are for what you have done to the good citizens of Colorado.
Signed,
Mike M Brennan

The Upstairs Gallery moving to Streamline Realty
Dear Editor:
The Upstairs Gallery is moving down to 600 Main St. Suzan Pelloni has most graciously offered a new home for the studio and gallery in the Streamline Realty building.
I hope to be settled into the new space by mid-July. The gallery will be pared down to exhibit my paintings, jewelry and Andy Goettel’s pottery. In collaboration with Suzan we hope to continue the Christmas Shop tradition of inviting in the fine artists who have exhibited here in the past.
To all of you who have accompanied me on The Upstairs Gallery journey and visited the gallery/studio upstairs in the Hugus Building:
Thank you for bearing with me. It has been a privilege to represent and encourage fellow artists throughout their art development and so much fun to watch the changes and growth. To all of my loyal patrons over the years — I have so appreciated your support and encouragement. Best of all have been the friendships I have made along the way, and the love this town has shown me.
I have been gifted with a space and a life that has allowed me to bring an art presence to Meeker: to be here for the after school footloose kids (grown now, some still visit me- you know who you are), for provide quick thoughtful gifts for weddings, birthdays and Christmas, to educate the community about why artists paint nudes, to celebrate our landscapes, to talk books, to be privy to the pulse of the community. I have been privileged to showcase some of the best artists of our area, to paint four years of 5th grade portraits — imparting an inkling of how paintings are different than photographs and, hopefully giving them a little confidence to boot as they moved into middle school.
The studio space has been my creative home since 1997, the front gallery since 2004 and the big gallery since November 2019. Thank you Mary K for making that home possible. The gallery has celebrated 20 years of the Christmas Shop, hosted a Ladies Social Club brunch, welcomed numerous trick or treaters with my stuffed pet spider, and been a resting place and retreat for many others. I have been so blessed and grateful for each and every one of my patrons and artists.
Thank you Meeker,
Pat Daggett
