LETTERS TO THE EDITOR – March 19th, 2026

Sharing stories

Dear Editor:

I was privileged to share stories with Meeker Elementary students, from pre-K through fifth grade, in the last couple of weeks. The experience was wonderful; the students were attentive, their manners were impeccable, and I was left with a glow in my heart. Memories returned from my 25 years as a librarian. Children are so eager to be taken on an adventure into an exciting book with great illustrations. I am proud of our school atmosphere. Thank you for the opportunity to share a quality moment with the children of the elementary school.

Parents, do not miss a precious moment to share a book with your children. This is the best way to make a difference in everyone’s life.

Last week I was invited to share information about fossils and rocks with the sixth-graders at Barone Middle School. It was an amazing three hours. They asked great questions, were very attentive and curious to learn, and shared their experiences finding rocks and exploring our county.

I would be remiss if I did not share with our community about things that adults are always curious about. Yes, the students say the Pledge of Allegiance, put their phones in the teachers’ closet at the beginning of the day and pick them up at the end of the day, and are very respectful and helpful. When I received the letters from the students, I was very impressed: the handwriting was legible (cursive writing) and the content was respectful. Cheers to the students, teachers, Barone Middle School and Meeker School District. I am ready to share again.
