Registered RBC voters,
participate in the caucus
Dear Editor,
We are privileged to live in America where we enjoy the benefits of a democratic society. How blessed we all are! However, with privilege and blessing comes responsibility and effort. We have a representative government. A government that is “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” To deserve a true and strong democracy, PEOPLE MUST PARTICIPATE in our electoral process. At our local level, responsibility begins with the Rio Blanco County Precinct Caucus, Assembly and Convention. If you are a registered Democrat or Republican in Rio Blanco County, please attend your county caucus. It is your chance to choose candidates who will be on your ballot. You have a voice! Do not miss out. Our rights, our economy, our children’s education, our water and way of life – all demand your participation.

Thanks for supporting
baseball/softball auction
Dear Editor,
I am happy to report that the inaugural Take Me Out to the Ball Game Auction Fundraiser was a huge success where the Meeker High School baseball and softball teams combined for a community event Sunday evening, Feb. 25. The night was filled with amazing community involvement, exciting games, live and silent auctions, and gourmet hot dogs with the student-athletes manning the food stations keeping everyone’s plates full. Stanley and Vicki Crawford were instrumental during the event with cooking the specialty hot dogs and brats along with various sides. With their involvement, the food was prepared deliciously and efficiently to keep the night on track. I have received numerous compliments from attendees about the food and the Crawfords deserve all of the praise.
We would like to thank all sponsors for their support of these teams and student-athletes, especially the Town of Meeker and Natural Soda who were both Grand Slam sponsors. I would also like to take a step back and recognize stand-out individuals who made this all happen. With Rich Klinzmann’s great idea for the auction, Winter Blazon’s organization and enthusiasm, Tiffany Jehorek’s experience and expertise with these types of events, Valerie Thompson’s information gathering and liaison between the committee and the school, and Jessica Browning’s organizational skills and crafty work on the decor; these individuals built this auction from the ground up and made it the successful event it was. In addition, it was a treat to be involved in a fundraiser with baseball coach Donald Blazon who has given so much to the high school program and who is truly passionate about the sport and his players. He was even able to break free from his duties and give a gripping performance of “Dugout Dad Jokes” with me to give the audience some laughs.
Once again, we thank all of our sponsors for their generous donations and support of this event and our teams. We could not have done it without this amazing Meeker community! The baseball team starts off their season on a high note after the successful evening and hope to continue the hot streak throughout the season. Good luck to both the Meeker High School softball and baseball teams with their upcoming seasons and hope to see everyone there supporting these phenomenal student-athletes.
Thank you to all of the sponsors! Your support is greatly appreciated.
