LETTERS TO THE EDITOR – November 14th, 2024

Thank you for quilting supplies

Dear Editor,

The Rio Blanco Stitchers would like to thank all of the Veterans for their service to our community and country. We were honored to present 11 quilts to our local veterans in appreciation for their service at the Veterans Day Celebration at Barone Middle School.

We would like to applaud the students for a job well done and hope you can continue this tradition for many years to come. A special thanks to LD Grove for his generous contribution to our group to help with supplies for this endeavor.

Apologies

Dear Editor:

You know the adage: assumptions make an ___ out us. Well on election week, I published a story on how we should all research political candidates and issues rather than vote a straight party line. I have been thoroughly chastised in my use of the phrase “taking politics to the extreme.” I am relieved that we are past the age of being chastised with a buggy whip, but I would have accepted the punishment for my error. I had wrongly assumed that a reference to political preference on Margie and Bob’s gravestone inferred that the husband and wife had a point of contention. I am informed that Margie and Bob did NOT argue politics but instead were an example of bi-partisanship and that their marriage was long and happy. Please accept my apology. It is not my first mistake nor will it be my last. My intent is never to alienate the people who are my constant and valuable sources for stories and history. That trust allows me to serve and write future stories.
