Learning from our predecessors
Dear Editor:
We live in a time with all kinds of information available from multiple sources. During the heat of today’s political battles, we continually hear accusations of Communist, Socialist, Fascist and others. Our understanding of these terms is often incomplete or inaccurate.
Recently I came upon a US Army Archives “Army Talk Orientation Fact Sheet #64 Fascism!” dated March 24, 1945. This was printed and distributed by the United States War Department Army Orientation Branch: Information and Education Division as an education tool for use with soldiers. This is an open-source document, which anyone can access at: https://archive.org/details/ArmyTalkOrientationFactSheet64-Fascism/mode/1up
My father and uncle served during WWII, and I served in Vietnam in the US Navy. What is so remarkable with this document is that it was written during our parents and grandparents time for those who fought and died for our freedoms today. This document is printed as a brochure, folded, within our paper, so that it can be kept and studied by us all. It is useful information, which I invite you to read.
PLEASE EXERCISE YOUR FREEDOM TO VOTE!
Sincerely,
David Cole

Dear Editor:
On Sept. 23 I was involved in a serious crash while cycling outside of Meeker.
From me and my family, we want to extend our thanks and gratitude, especially to those individuals and services who assisted that day:
• Rio Blanco Co Ambulance/EMS.
• Classic Air Medical.
• Denver Health Trauma Care, Inpatient and Outpatient units, and Occupational Therapy.
• Rio Blanco Sheriff Department.
• Colorado State Patrol
The professionalism and teamwork exhibited by every one of these teams is something I will remember forever.
Thank you all!
Bob Gardner and Family
