RBC | The Rio Blanco County 4-H Livestock Judging Team traveled to Rocky Ford, Colorado, this past weekend to compete in the Otero/Lincoln County Livestock Judging Contest. About 30 seniors and 60 juniors from across the state participated. Coaches are proud of the hard work the kids have done to prepare and the results.
Senior Eli Rundberg competed as an individual to represent Rio Blanco County. As the only senior, he combined with another team to compete. Eli placed eighth in cattle, 13th in sheep and goat, 11th in swine, 17th in placings, third in reasons and 13th overall. His team placed fourth in placings, third in reasons and fourth overall.
Juniors participating in the contest were Hattie Brennan, Milo Brennan, Brodee Kilduff, Anna Beth Moody and Copen Smith. Hattie, Milo and Brodee were a team, while Anna Beth and Copen combined with another individual from another county to compete on another team.
Hattie placed eighth in cattle, seventh in sheep and goat, fourth in swine, sixth in placings, fourth in reasons and third overall. Milo placed 27th in sheep and goat and ninth in swine. Brodee placed 15th in cattle, 27th in swine, 19th in placings and 28th in reasons. As a team, Hattie, Milo and Brodee placed sixth in placings, sixth in reasons and third overall.
This was Anna Beth’s first contest, and she did great. She placed 21st in sheep and goat, 28th in swine, 22nd in placings and 28th overall. Copen placed 17th in swine. As a team, Anna Beth and Copen placed 16th in placings, 17th in reasons and 16th overall.
