MACC meets Monday, agenda includes Shakespeare Festival visit

MEEKER I The Meeker Arts and Cultural Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Meeker United Methodist Church’s Elbert Hall.

A major project for 2014 includes following up on the application for designation of Meeker as a Creative District from Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the Colorado State Office of Economic Development.
Creative districts are eligible for grants and substantial promotion and publicity for local areas through heritage and agri-tourism, which are top economic development engines in Colorado.
Other topics will be the evaluation of the Meekerpalooza on June 7 and summer performing arts events.
A proposed field trip to the Colorado Shakespeare Festival at the University of Colorado at Boulder is being considered for MACC members and for the youth members of the MACC Venturing Crew 91 and Explorer Club 91.
The CU Shakespeare Festival runs from mid-June through mid-August and is a nationally renowned production featuring the works of Shakespeare in repertory.
The performance venue is the Mary Rippon Outdoor Theater.
