Meeker

Meeker Locals: Nov. 20, 2008

As sometimes happens in the space-limited world of the weekly newspaper, Harold’s column last week was pre-empted by a last minute addition. So, belated birthday wishes go out to Jessica Berthelson, Dennis Koenig, Nov. 14; Megan Ridings, Nov. 14; Karen Arnold, Nov. 16; Betty Lou Moyer, Nov. 17; Thad Hauck, J.C. Watt, Nov. 18; Meg Hollowed, John Haney, Nov. 19. And a belated “happy anniversary” to John and Laurel Haney, Nov. 18. Miss Liliana Marie Piper celebrated her first birthday Nov. 16.
This week, wish the following folks a great birthday: Kate Proctor, Brad Campbell, Dulcey Murray, Tim Nelson, Nov. 21; Justin Carroll, Kyler Bland, R.J. Palmer, Nov. 22; Roy Kinney, Trenton Kindall, Jim McFarland, Nina Mintz, Nov. 23; Chance Walker, Ruth Koenig, Ed Hollowed, Nov. 24; Casey Walters, Tawny Halandras, Keith Rule, Nov. 25; Fred Day, Norma Oldland, Florence Hazelbaker, Nov. 26.
Happy anniversaries this week to Gary and Relda Coulter, George and Peggy Back, Nov. 23; Wayne and Vicky Johnson, Nov. 24; Tom and Joy Allen, Keith and Kim Rule, George and Patsy Nay, Nov. 25; Patrick and Lisa Darrow, Nov. 26.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Curll Kline from his wife, Linda.
Connie Kelley has been worth her weight in gold. A faithful reader with a sharp eye, she conscientiously e-mails to let us know when we’ve blown it with a wrong birthday or anniversary, or by sending greetings to someone who has passed away or whose marriage ended.
It takes as many eyes and ears as possible to keep Harold straight. Working from e-mail lists, notes scribbled on post-its and left at the office, and the occasional calendar or newsletter from local clubs and groups, Harold simply doesn’t know every person … um … personally.
If birthday and anniversary greetings are limited to those individuals Harold actually knows, the column would revert to a one-family saga—hence, the weekly plea for folks like you to send in that information! If you have access to any birthday/anniversary lists, please share. Corrections are recorded, so hopefully the same mistakes aren’t made next year, although stuff happens, as you know! Send info to [email protected], or mail items to P.O. Box 720, Meeker, CO, 81641.
