MEEKER — The lady Cowboy basketball team traveled to Paonia last Friday and lost a league game to the Eagles 60-41. Meeker will host the Rangely Panthers Friday and Soroco Saturday.
“We are still trying to get the flow back we had right after Christmas,” head coach Hallie Blunt said. “We hope we get it back this week.”
Meeker fell behind 1-15 after the first quarter and scored 11 in the second but were behind 12-29 at halftime.
“We traveled and couldn’t find the square on the backboard,” Blunt said of some of her team’s challenges.
“Janae (Kindall) came on in the third and fourth quarters,” Blunt said but it wasn’t enough.
Kindall scored all of her points in the final two periods and led her team with 11. Amanda Bain finished with eight, Kiandra Ross had seven and Jessica Rodebaugh added six. Sydney and Marki Cook each finished with four points.
A win over the Panthers will give the lady Cowboys the third place seed and a home game in the first round of the upcoming district tournament. Games start at 4 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
