MEEKER I The Meeker Town Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to proceed with an ordinance that would allow the town to turn the old Meeker Elementary School on Main Street in the downtown area over to the Rio Blanco County Board of Commissioners.
The town must advertise the ordinance, which begins a 30-day period when the county has the to make the decision to take over the building and property or turn down the offer.
The ordinance does not bind the county in any manner as to its future use.
The ordinance also gives the town the assurance that it has no continuing liability for the asbestos or any other issues related to the property once it is conveyed to the county.
