The Meeker Public Library recently announced their newly founded Teen Advisory Board (TAB), a student-led volunteer organization that strives to gather teen input to make suggestions for the teen materials collection, create teen programs and facilitate a welcoming community for teens at the library.
Kristina Selby, Library Assistant and founder of TAB, commented, “We wanted to start a Teen Advisory Board because we want teens to have a voice in what they see at the library both in our selection and programming. Our goal is to support the board in building confidence in themselves by suggesting library materials for the collection and also developing teen programming from the initial planning stages to implementing the programs.”
Application forms for TAB are available at the library front desk, and must be returned by Dec. 31, 2022. Anyone in grades 6-12 who is willing to attend all meetings and participate in activities and discussions is encouraged to apply. Meetings will be every third Tuesday of the month from 4-5 p.m.
“We look forward to starting TAB and seeing the difference we know the board will make,” Selby said.
