MEEKER I The Meeker Recreation Center will be closed for its annual shutdown beginning May 19 and continuing through May 27 in recognition of Memorial Day. Normal business hours will resume at 5 a.m. on May 28.
The Meeker Recreation Center is open an average of 350 days per year for approximately 4,800 hours. Due, in part, to this extensive usage, there are several maintenance and repair tasks that must be completed each year. Some tasks are done for patron comfort and safety, others are done to meet government safety and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines.
A partial list of the items being addressed this year includes repair of leaks in showers and locker rooms; acid washing of all pools to prevent algae growth; replacement of the door between the natatorium and lounge; complete equipment and machine maintenance in the fitness room; IT updates and maintenance; required staff first aid and CPR training.
During the shutdown and holiday, no services will be provided at the center; the building will be closed and the phone will not be answered. However, off-site programs and events will be held as scheduled including special Shutdown Week Fitness classes being held at the Administration Gym. See page 15 of the May-June lineup for details.
The center wishes to thank all patrons for their patience and understanding during the shutdown as the crew works to provide the safest and most comfortable experience possible.
