MEEKER | This is the highest accreditation rating given by the Colorado Department of Education. In 2025, only 17 entities earned “Accredited with Distinction” status, which places our school district in the top 9.3% of all local education agencies in the State of Colorado. The achievement in 2025 marks the ninth time in the past ten years that our school district has been Accredited with Distinction. The academic growth and achievement demonstrated by Meeker students continues to live up to our district’s vision statement: “Excellence in All We Do”
The accreditation ratings used by the Colorado Department of Education come from a document called the District Performance Framework (DPF). Five BOCES organizations who run schools and 178 school districts receive a DPF. The scores earned on the DPF are primarily from results on CMAS testing and the SAT suite of assessments. The DPF also includes a section regarding “postsecondary readiness” which measures items such as graduation rate and matriculation rate.
In addition to the DPF, each of our schools receives a School Performance Framework (SPF). All three schools also received the highest rating possible by the Colorado Department of Education. Meeker Elementary School and Meeker High School both earned a score that placed them in the 25% of all schools in Colorado.

These accomplishments were not achieved by chance. They are a testament to the hard work demonstrated by our students and the high expectations in place from our families. The school staff in the Meeker School District are incredibly talented educators who put forth tremendous effort to help students learn. Student learning is the number one priority for our school district. The scores we have achieved through the state’s accreditation system are simply an outcome of the hard work and high expectations in place in the Meeker School District.
The state accreditation system provides the most concrete evidence of student learning. However, student learning is evident in various other venues. Phenomenal opportunities for student learning also occur through our elective and extracurricular programs which extends beyond the learning measured by the DPF and SPFs. Anyone in our community that has attended concerts, plays, or extracurricular contests can clearly see teamwork, perseverance, and self-confidence built through these activities. The development of citizenship, creativity, and problem solving is also evident through student artwork, Career and Technical Education events or projects, technology integration, and positive behavior and attendance recognition.
The evidence of learning within Meeker School District RE-1 is exemplary, and is a testament to our students, community, and school staff. I am proud to be a Meeker Cowboy!
