RANGELY | Candra Robie, Director of the Rangely Chamber of Commerce, addressed Rangely’s Board of Trustees on Aug. 8 and described some of the Chamber’s efforts since she started in her current role. Robie reported on the success of major events such as the Rangely OHV Adventure Rally (ROAR). Efforts have been focused on aiding current businesses with the hope of expanding the push for new businesses in the near future.
Committee and board meeting and the town manager’s reports all centered on the efforts to continue seeking funds for the resources Rangely needs, especially in childcare and housing.
Other business completed during the Aug. 8 meeting included:
- Discussion and action to approve the application to the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) for an Energy Impact Assistance Fund (EIAF) Grant for the Half Turn Water Line replacement project previously approved up to $950,000, with an increased amount not to exceed $1,100,000 with a 50% match.
- Discussion and action to approve a special event permit by Rangely BPOE #1907 (Elks Lodge) for the Rock ’n’ Bull Event on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. This action was approved.
- Discussion and action to approve a special event permit by White River Friends of the NRA for an NRA fundraiser on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at 4 p.m. This action was approved. Bonnie Scarlett addressed the board with a description of the organization and her plea to have a Rangely resident as a chair member in the organization.
- Discussion and action to approve a letter of support for a CDPHE Childcare Grant from the Rangely District Hospital Foundation (as the fiduciary agency) on behalf of the Rangely Community Childcare Facilitation. This action was approved.
- Discussion and action to approve the Central Square proposal for CAD/RMS in the amount of $93,275.16 contingent on partnerships with Rangely District Hospital and Rangely Fire Department participation. The hospital has made a commitment to the town, reported Lisa Piering. The Rangely Fire Department has not made a firm commitment but is making efforts to be able to. There was a discussion regarding why the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office was not supportive. This action was approved.
- Discussion and action to approve the appointment of Jeannie Caldwell to the RDA/RDC Boards, respectively. This action was approved.
- Discussion and action to approve the appointment of Candra Robie to the RDA/RDC Boards, respectively. This action was approved.
