Meeker youth wrestlers crown 9 champs in Craig

MEEKER I With several of their teammates competing in Destination Imagination or baseball, 33 Meeker Community Wrestling Club youth members wrestled in Craig last week and many will wrestle in Rifle on Saturday.
“We took 33 wrestlers, which isn’t a bad number despite all the other activities happening,” coach Carl Padilla said. “We placed 27 of the 33 in the top four, including nine champions.”
Brothers Ty and Reed Goedert, along with brothers Robert and William Foster, as well as Domonic Wyatt, Levi Caulfield, Dillon Hobbs and Trapper McGruder all earned gold medals.
Jace Vroman, Tristin Rollins, Kesston Hobbs, Rian Hinden and Kaden Franklin all won silver medals. Arianna Price, Cody Richardson, Parker Pontine, Russell McGruder, Wyatt Ross, Cooper Michels and Trae Kennedy were all consolation champions in their brackets.
Dublin Price, Justin George, Jon Baker, Kaleb Nielson, Sydnie Ross and Damon Dade all place fourth while Wyatt Rollins, Coy Richardson, Nathan Smith, Tyler Sanders and Dagon Dade all wrestled but did not place.
“We’re wrestling well. I’m very proud of all of them,” Coach Padilla said. “They wrestled the entire match.
