Meeker High School’s art program had another incredible year at the Colorado Regional Scholastic Art Awards, receiving nine awards overall; five Silver Keys and four Honorable Mentions.
Hakwah Brink received two Honorable Mentions for ceramics for his “Mottled Blue Toothbrush Holder” and his “Stoneware Cupbowl Set.”
Keaton Brickey received an Honorable Mention for drawing for his incredibly detailed pen drawing “Pieta di Vulcan Aeneas.”
Shane Kobald received an Honorable Mention in painting for his watercolor titled “The Highest Perch.”
Brighton Bair received a Silver Key in ceramics for her “Leaf Cup Set.”
Chayton Owens (the lone senior) received a Silver Key in ceramics for his “Twisted-Handled Marbled Mug Set.”
Gabe Richardson received two Silver Keys, one in drawing for his “Patron Saint of 2020” and one for ceramics for his work “Tribute to an Old Memory (In Memory of Rudy Autio).”
Sarah Kracht received a Silver Key in printmaking for her linoleum block print titled “Ellie”.
“It was remarkable to see the perseverance of our students here at Meeker High School amidst the challenges they have been faced with this year. I love how their art reflects their thoughts, emotions and energy,” said art teacher Ben Quinn.
“Thank you to our supportive community, students, parents, teachers and administration! Our students are grateful for your help and support,” Quinn added.
