MEEKER I Several members of the Meeker High School girls’ softball team were honored by the league after its inaugural season, and two team members produced national statistics that rank among the nation’s best.
Sophomores Megan Shelton and Sierra Williams were named to the Northwest All-League first team, while Jasmine Patterson, Emily Hendershot and Sidney Shaffer received honorable mention status from the league.
The Meeker team finished the season with a 9-11 record and qualified for the regional tournament in its first year under head coach Briana Williams.
According to Maxpreps.com, Shelton batted .393, with 24 hits and 21 runs batted in. Shelton also led the league from the catching position and was ranked third nationally in catching base stealers almost a third of the time (.281).
Sierra Williams led the league in stolen bases and was ranked fifth in the country with 47 stolen bases during the season. Williams had a .442 batting percentage and an on-base percentage of .633.
