A magnitude 4.3 earthquake with an epicenter about 28 miles northwest of Parachute was felt by Rangely residents around 4 a.m., and according to the USGS “shake map” could have been felt by residents in Meeker, Parachute, Battlement Mesa, Grand Junction and Fruita.
A second 2.9 magnitude earthquake, possibly an aftershock, occurred a little after 5 a.m. in the same area.
