RBC | When he first came to the Meeker area from his home state of Michigan on an elk hunt in 1993, Pete Granquist wasn’t planning on starting a business here, much less a hunting lodge. Granquist started hunting on a regular basis with Jerry Purcell but came to love the area so much that he purchased property with a cabin in the area. Soon after his purchase, Granquist started a hunting camp for his partners who helped procure the property. As popularity grew, mostly by word-of-mouth, it wasn’t long before Elk Haven was born. A new lodge was built from the ground up and the original cabin has been completely renovated as well. Starting this year, Elk Haven Lodge has decided to broaden the availability of the lodge to year-round activities, catering to OHV enthusiasts and snowmobilers.
