RBC | Following a regional search by its board of directors, West Slope Colorado Oil & Gas Association (WSCOGA) today named Fruita native Chelsie Miera as the organization’s new executive director. She will have strategic and operational responsibility for the organization and will jump right in to navigating the rulemakings from Senate Bill 181 and the upcoming legislative session.
“I’m eager to build upon the reputation WSCOGA has earned on the west slope and to intensify and diversify our voice across the region and state. Our communities are built on the honorable history of developing the resources our society uses to create a higher quality of life for our state, country and world and I’m honored to be able to play a role in the great work the men and women do in the Piceance Basin,” stated Miera.
Mike Rynearson, Vice President of Operations for Caerus Oil and Gas and WSCOGA Board Chair explained, “Chelsie’s experience both nationally and in Colorado’s oil and natural gas industry combined with her local roots will allow her to quickly delve in and be a compelling advocate and voice for our industry’s employees and their families. The combination gives her unique perspective into the culture and needs of our region and basin as well as thoughtful strategy to getting our interests heard and considered at the state level.”
Miera comes to WSCOGA from EIS Solutions’ where she served as Director of Outreach and Local Affairs and specialized in building coalitions to help clients shape public policy and cultivate community relationships at the local, statewide and regional levels.
“Chelsie is a strong and energetic hire and brings a wealth of industry and regulatory knowledge along with key relationships that will lead our organization and members through the ongoing rulemakings and challenges we are currently experiencing. Further, she has vision to identify new opportunities to develop our natural gas and petroleum resources from western Colorado and support the communities we live, work and play in for years to come” said Quint Shear, President of Shear Inc. and past Chair of the Board of Directors.
Miera begins her new role on Jan. 2, 2020.
