NEWS NOTES: January 6, 2022

Sportsman’s club meeting Jan. 6

MEEKER | The Meeker Sportsman’s Club will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. at the WREA Kilowatt Korner (233 6th St.). There is no specific agenda for the meeting but there will be a general update. Election of officers will be held. Most positions are available. We also need a raffle chairperson. If you are interested in serving in any of these roles, please make your interest known and plan on attending the meeting this Thursday. Also, the combination to the gate will be changed in the next couple of days. The new combination will be provided to everyone whose memberships are current for 2022. Most folks have already renewed their membership but applications will be available at the meeting. Membership applications are also available on the Club’s web page at:  https://meekercoloradosportsmansclub.com/.  As you renew your membership, please take time to carefully review the rules as they have recently been updated.

Historical Society quarterly meeting

MEEKER | The Rio Blanco County Historical Society will hold its January quarterly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Culture Center (517 Park). We’ll be discussing preservation of historic photographs and documents, renewing memberships and voting on board officers. Chili will be provided. Bring a chili topping, side dish or dessert to share. Call (970) 878-9982 with any questions.

Conservation district annual meeting

MEEKER | The annual meeting and banquet for the White River Conservation District will be held Jan. 13 at the Fairfield Center in Meeker (200 Main St.) at 5:30 p.m. RSVP for the banquet by Jan. 7 via phone (970-878-9838) or email [email protected].

Rangely Chamber annual dinner tickets available

RANGELY | Rangely Chamber members, get your tickets now for The Old West Steak and Shrimp Dinner. General public tickets (if there are leftovers) will be available Jan. 10, 2022. Chamber membership for 2022 must be paid before purchase. The dinner will be Feb. 19 from 7-9 p.m. in the CNCC Colorado Room. Single tickets are $60, a table is $350. Call 970-875-5290, email [email protected] or stop by 255 E. Main St. to purchase tickets or with any questions. 

Meeker book club

MEEKER | The book club will be reading “Dune” by Frank Herbert. We will discuss the book on Monday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to join in the fun.

Upcoming RBC free legal clinic

MEEKER | Free legal clinic Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. for parties without an attorney. Contact the Meeker Library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign-up sheet. Space is limited. Volunteer attorneys will assist one-on-one via computer link, to answer questions, help fill out forms, and explain the process and procedure for civil legal issues.
