It’s PAPER DAY! Happy Thursday, dear readers.
Happy Father’s Day on Sunday to all the dads, substitute dads, step-dads, extra dads, adopted dads, granddads, etc.
Father’s Day was first celebrated in 1910 in the state of Washington, but didn’t become an official national holiday until 1972. A woman named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honor her father, a widower who raised six children on his own (well worthy of being honored). Dodd generated enough local support for the idea of a day to honor dads to get the ball rolling in Washington, and it spread from there.
Don’t forget tonight is the start of the Meeker Summer Rodeo Series at 7 p.m. (Slack at 6) and Friday is the first Meekerpalooza and Meeker Market, a great way to kick off the summer season! Followed by the Meeker Mustang Makeover’s “Back on Track” clinic Saturday and Sunday.
Happy reading!
