Here’s Nellie with her eye on the sky as another thunderstorm rolls over China Wall. I can’t remember a summer with this much significant rain this early in the season. Nellie does not appreciate the thunder and with the addition of fireworks, this will be a rough week for her and many other pets and humans. Please be considerate of your neighbors in your use of fireworks this week!

The 139th annual Range Call Celebration kicks off this week with the Meeker Pageant Wednesday at dusk, the 4th of July Parade on Thursday at 10 a.m. downtown, and a plethora of activities and events through July 7. The full schedule is on page 7 of this week’s paper.

Rangely’s 4th of July Celebration also kicks off on Wednesday with a series of events sponsored by the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District. The full schedule is on page 6 of this week’s paper.
