Ninth Judicial District announces Rio Blanco County Court vacancy

RBC I The Ninth Judicial District Nominating Commission will meet via videoconference on June 15, 2020, to interview and select nominees for appointment by the governor to the office of county judge and associate county judge for Rio Blanco County. The vacancy will be created by the retirement of the Hon. Laurie A. Noble. The vacancy will occur on July 2, 2020.
To be eligible, the applicant must be a qualified elector of Rio Blanco County at the time of investiture and have graduated high school or attained the equivalent of a high school education as indicated by the Department of Education, based upon the record made on the General Education Development test. Pursuant to C.R.S. 13-6-209, the associate county judge shall maintain his or her official residence and court chambers in the city of Rangely. The annual salary for this position is $33,159, and it is a 20% position. The initial term of office of a county judge is a provisional term of two years; thereafter, the incumbent county judge, if approved by the voters, has a term of four years.

Any person wishing to suggest a candidate to fill the vacancy may do so by letter to be submitted to any member of the nominating commission, with a copy to the ex officio chair, no later than 4 p.m. May 22, 2020.
The members of the nominating commission for the Ninth Judicial District are: Scott Grosscup of Glenwood Springs; Lauren Maytin and Blanca O’Leary of Aspen; Sheryl Barto and Bonnie McLean of Carbondale; and Angela Strode of Rifle. The commission currently has one vacancy.
