MEEKER — Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, will send four students to represent the university at the 61st annual College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo., on June 14-20, including senior Cynda Norell of Meeker.
The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association has 11 different regions from which students will contend for national titles at the CNFR in saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying. The top three in each event and top two men’s and women’s teams from each region qualify for the finals.
Norell qualified for the CNFR in goat tying. The Meeker cowgirl is no stranger to the finals – this will be her third trip. Along with the goat tying, she also competes in breakaway roping and team roping. Prior to making the trip, Norell will graduate with her interdisciplinary business degree and Alpha Chi honors with a 3.7 grade-point average.
