With love, laughter and mischief Cleo Broome went to heaven to join her parents Jay and Erma Turner and her sister Elaine Julius and the love of her life, Bob Broome.
The difficulty in leaving this earth was leaving her children, Brenda and Jack, Gary and Lori, and Tonya and Ronnie along with her grandkids — Brant, Lance and Garrett — Morgan — Kade, Kyle and Kobe and the sweetest five great-grandkids.
She loved her Eagle Crest family dearly.
After joining the Rangely community in 1955 she was actively involved in the LDS church and in the Rangely Saddle Club. She loved every aspect of rodeo and the gymkhana’s that were associated with the horses.
Cleo drove a bus for the Rangely School District, retiring with many funny stories of the children bringing snakes and chickens on the bus. She was still driving the senior bus at the age 79 — being older than many of her passengers.
She could make a Dutch oven dinner fit for a king. She could start a fire without a match. She could tie every knot known to man. She taught boys in Cub Scouts and girls at Girls Camp to fish, hike, sing, cook over a campfire and to love the outdoors. She could tell the scariest stories around the campfire.
Cleo never owned a curling iron or any makeup. She was a simple woman who worked hard and loved hard and when anyone asked her “how are you?” she always replied, “Perfect.”
A celebration of life will be held on her 90* birthday Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. at Eagle Crest Assisted Living in Rangely, Colorado.
