Cletis E. Sims
April 9, 1927 ~ Jan. 30, 2023
Cletis E. Sims, 95, passed away at home with his son and daughter-in-law at his side. He was the last of 15 children born at home to Walter and Lizzie Sims in London, Arkansas.
During WWII he served in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps from 1944-1946. Cletis married the love of his life Wilma Brown on Aug. 6, 1949. They moved to Dinosaur (Artesia), Colorado and were blessed with one son, Dennis, whom they adored.
Cletis retired from Chevron Oil Company after over 29 years of employment. During his years in Dinosaur, he also served as Town Marshal and Public Works Director.
He and Wilma moved to Vernal, Utah, in 1998. Up into his 80s, if he wasn’t working at Bain Nursery for Max, Jackie and Jeff Haslem, you could probably find him and Wilma at the slot machine in Wendover, Nevada.
Cletis is survived by his son Dennis (Dixie) Sims. He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, as well as his mother, father and all his siblings.
We are deeply grateful to the staff at Good Shepherd for their vital and loving care. Our thanks to Ashley Valley Funeral Home as well for their guidance and support. The kindness of family and friends has sustained us throughout.
A private family service will be scheduled at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.AshleyValleyFuneralHome.com
