Daniel Burnett Seely, 87, of Meeker, Colorado, passed away on July 19, 2026. He was born on October 6, 1938, in Price, Utah, to Carl H. and Helen Burnett Seely. Dan was the third of four children and is survived by his wife Eva Jean, brother Jerry Seely (MaryAnn) and sister Patsy Richardson. He was preceded in death by his sister Beverly Burdick.
Dan was a lifelong rancher in Rio Blanco County. In 1961, he and his brother Jerry bought into the family ranch when the Seely family purchased the Wilbur Ranch on the White River east of Meeker. While running the ranch, Dan earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. He also spent many years square dancing and became a caller in 1985, forming lasting friendships within the dancing community.
On August 12, 1958, Dan married Eva Jean Pilkington, and together they raised four children: Marten (Deb), David (Kathryn), Karen (Stanley), and Justin (Lynn). He was preceded in death by his son David in 1999. Dan leaves behind a large and loving family, including 12 grandchildren and 16 great‑grandchildren.
Dan will be remembered for his dedication to family, ranching, and the community he served throughout his life.
Funeral services were held July 22 in Meeker.
