Dean Ross passed away in the company of family at the hospice care center in Grand Junction on Thursday morning Sept. 4, 2025. “Cowboy” fought a valiant battle with cirrhosis and passed away at the age of 71.
Dean was born in Craig, Colorado, to Nora Ellen Stone and Ervin Gene Ross. He grew up mostly in and around Meeker and Cedaredge, Colorado. Dean joined the Army right out of school, and after returning home he made his way to Oklahoma. Thereahe worked in the oilfield as a driller and tool pusher.
Dean made his way back to Colorado where he began working ranch jobs and breaking horses in and around Cedaredge and other various places in Colorado. Dean eventually went back to working in the oilfield. He traveled around chasing the rigs to places as far as Saudi Arabia.
Dean loved God, his mama, horses, the ladies, his Harley, family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all those he has left behind
Dean is survived by his mother Nora Eversole; brothers Jack Ross, Micheal Ross and Jay Ross; sisters Tonya Ridings and Nora Ross. He will be greeted by his father Ervin Ross and two brothers, Lawrence Ross and Darrell Ross, who went before him.
There will be a celebration of life for Dean, to be held at Rivers Church located at 762 Dodge St., Delta, Colorado, on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m.
