Donald E. Pearson, 78, a resident of Berwick, La., passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Affectionately called “Poopsie” by his family and friends, he was a kind, generous, easy-going man and was well respected by many friends.
Donald was born Nov. 2, 1935, in South Bend, Ind., the son of Godfrey and Edith Bergman Pearson.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Berwick as well as the St. Mary Parish AARP.
He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying baseball and football. He was a member of the Showboat Barbershop Chorus in Baton Rouge as well as being a member of the Krewe of Cork, a New Orleans Mardi Gras organization.
Donald will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Mickey Wilson Pearson of Berwick; one son, Gregory Landry and wife Lisa of Lafayette; two daughters, Claire Howey and husband George of Meeker, Colo., and Stephanie Walsh of Destrehan; five grandchildren, Kyle Howey, Tyler Howey, Shannon Walsh, Sarah Walsh and Sean Walsh; one great-granddaughter, Riley Jane Howey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, G. Allan Pearson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Berwick with the Rev. Steven Porter officiating. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Twin City Funeral Home. Donald was be entombed in the Berwick Mausoleum following funeral services.
